You've probably heard, that St. Petersburg is worth visiting in summer? It really is! BUT! How about wintertime? Have you ever been thinking about the advantages of winter tours to St. Petersburg? Allow me to show you some pros and cons.
Pros
- Winter is lovely in Saint Petersburg! The City views are breathtaking, no matter if the snow is falling or the sun is shining bright!
- There are considerably fewer tourists in the city - so the museums are almost empty! Which is more pleasant and much safer!
- No rush. As the unique way to come here in winter is to get a visa and have plenty of time to explore!
- Exclusively in winter, you can improve your skating skills on an open skating rink or ride a famous Russian troika or sleigh, drawn by horses or dogs. Only in winter, you can step on the ice of our renowned canals and capture unique photos! Only in winter, you can enjoy marvellous Christmas decoration of Saint Petersburg!
- Isn't it amazing? Plus you can try on the role of a Russian chef and find out how to make Pelmeni or Russian dumplings at a special master-class. You can visit the Russian Banya! Theatres and concert halls are open and offer a broad variety of performances. Caviar tasting, Vodka tasting, Matryoshka painting, visiting a communal flat or a Russian family and having a chat and dinner with them!
So many fun things to do and to feel in Saint Petersburg… I am sure, by the end of your tour, you will feel yourself like a Russian! At least a little bit.
But — to be honest — there are a few inconveniences here. And the main is the weather! The weather in Saint Petersburg is unpredictable and unstable. It is true. But if you master the art of dressing yourself in layers you will not only survive here, but you will really enjoy your stay!
Warm parkas or coats are great! A coat and a pullover - also great! Warm shoes (boots are better), a hat, a scarf, gloves or mittens. And finally, you are well prepared for all the whims of the weather in Saint Petersburg! (But don't forget your umbrellas…Just in case…)
The other inconvenience is the necessity of having a visa. We do not accept cruise ships in winter, yet. But as we have e-visas now it is much more simple to travel to Saint Petersburg!
So what's about my tour package? Oh, this is just an example for you to think about all the things to do and places to go here. A 4-Day Program of your stay in Saint Petersburg in winter. With prices, of course.
